How GymIQ ranks gyms

Rankings use one source: published meet scores. No surveys, no reviews, and nothing a gym can pay for.

The data

GymIQ uses data from multiple sources for gymnastics meets. Gymnast names are never stored or shown. We make our best effort to connect gym names across multiple meets.

Team scores

Each gymnast's scores are averaged across the season. A gym's team score at each level and event is the average of its gymnasts, so every gymnast counts once.

Like-for-like groups

Gyms are only compared with gyms in the same state, program, level and event, with girls and boys ranked separately.

National Top 25

US gyms are also ranked nationally at each all-around level. The leading gyms at each level earn a National Top 25 award.

Award pages

Each gym's page features up to 12 of its best awards, with National Top 25 awards first.

Releasing awards

Every award is earned only from meet scores, and every gym's ranks appear free on every list. On a gym's own page, its top 2025-26 award is shown and the rest stay sealed until the gym joins the Awards program.

Releasing awards never changes a rank, an award or a place on any list, and no gym can buy an award it didn't earn.

The GymIQ Score

The GymIQ Score is a single 0–100 number that combines a gym's results across all of its levels, weighted by team size and adjusted so a very small field can't inflate it. 50 is the middle. State lists compare gyms within their state; US lists use a national version of the score.

Past seasons

Past seasons are calculated the same way from their published results and kept unchanged in the awards archive.
